Weatherford Laboratories is engaged in all facets of rock and fluid analysis for the purpose of evaluating hydrocarbon resources around the world. With locations on six continents, Weatherford Laboratories provides laboratory services to every major oil and gas producer and is experienced in all play types, on and offshore. This position is located in our NE Calgary Lab and will oversee our engineering group.
This position will oversee approx. 10-12 staff members in the engineering group. The Engineering Manager will work alongside with the two directors in technical areas and will report directly to General Manager.
· Manage the direct reports to meet both external and internal expectations of the organization.
· Develop a motivated engineering team that can provide our clients with top notch consulting and project management.
· Provide technical support and training to engineering and lab staff. Build career development plans with the engineering staff. Manage the review and evaluations process as layed out by Weatherford Canada for the engineering staff.
· Review and approve all technical interpretation/summaries prepared by engineering staff.
· Provide assistance to Sales for customer liaison.
· Approval of engineering group expense accounts, budgetary planning for education, training, software and office equipment.
· Liaise between Calgary and the other 38 Weatherford Labs locations to insure product compliance to Weatherford Labs standards.
· Manage high profile projects as required.
Qualifications
The qualified candidate must have an accredited Engineering Degree with 8 to 10 years of experience in the oil and gas industry.
Other skills required:
· Excellent communication and presentation skills (both oral and written).
· Excellent project management skills.
· Technical competency in the areas of reservoir engineering, completions and production engineering and reservoir fluid behavior.
· Experience in laboratory data evaluation and problem solving.
· Proven competency in Microsoft Office Products.
· Proven ability to work in a team environment.
