Position Description: CONDITION MONITORING ENGINEER


The Condition Monitoring Engineer’s primary purpose is to ensure rotating machinery is operated and maintained in a manner that optimizes lifespan, efficiency and operating costs. Further, this position is responsible for conducting comprehensive condition monitoring surveys including vibration data collection and analysis, performance analysis, oil analysis and visual surveys to evaluate and report on the running condition of machinery.

Position Location: Fort McMurray, AB, Edmonton, AB or Vancouver, BC

Key Accountabilities:

  • Perform condition monitoring and analysis on critical plant machinery to ensure that all issues have a documented resolution and timely path forward and that lessons learned are addressed.

  • Support Operations in identifying root problem causes, and provide the proper recommendations to improve reliability ensure a safe and reliable operation and facilitate ongoing improvement.

  • Complete condition monitoring surveys on time and to standards.

  • Interpret vibration data and diagnose vibration problems.

  • Work with the Reliability, Maintenance and Condition Monitoring personnel to maximize service intervals while assuring reliable operation of rotating equipment and improve overall equipment efficiency.


Skills/Experience:

  • Preference will be given to candidate with a Bachelors Degree in Engineering

  • Minimum 2-5 years’ experience with industrial machinery maintenance, with preference given to those with refinery or petrochemical experience

  • Proven track record of complex trouble-shooting and problem solving and equipment failure analysis

  • Training and experience in advanced problem solving techniques

  • Have a working knowledge of vibration data collection and analysis

  • Have a working knowledge of other condition monitoring technologies, including oil analysis, thermography, motor current analysis and ultrasonics and their integration with vibration analysis.

  • Working knowledge of industrial machinery and rotating equipment and installation, operation, design and repair.
