Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, the Human Resources Generalist provides day-to-day HR Generalist and point-of-contact support across all business units – Stores, Sales channels, Plant and Office groups.  This position supports the HR Manager and assigned customers in employee development, performance management, employee relations, staffing, employee development and other initiatives.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Provide OD & Training Support across MBCI Canada.

    • Support training and employee development activities from needs assessment through training plan creation and execution for both functional and plant floor employees.

    • Partner with Corporate Training and OD Team to support Leadership Development through content delivery and linkage to Career Development and Succession Planning processes.



  • Coach and counsel management staff regarding employee relations and performance management.

  • Lead employee appreciation and recognition activities.

  • Support HR team and assigned customers with consistent application of annual processes and programs such as Performance Management, Merit, Career Development, and Succession Planning. Ensure processes and associated tools are understood and outcomes are reviewed and communicated.

  • Assist in the administration, implementation, and interpretation of all Company policies to assure consistent application and equitable employee relations.

  • Assist in the management and administration of company compensation and benefit programs.

  • Maintain knowledge of HR policies and procedures, as well as provincial employment laws.

  • Participate in full staffing process including development of job specifications, facilitation of requisition process, identification of potential candidate sources, screening/interviewing, customer communication, and on-boarding.

  • Assist in incident investigations and ensure compliance with company policies, legal regulations and laws.

  • Assist HR Department on other assignments and/or special projects as requested.


Selection Criteria:

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resource Management or Human Resource Management certification or acceptable combination of education and experience.

  • HR Generalist with 5+ years relevant experience; preferably with demonstrated skills in training, succession planning and career & leadership development.

  • Experience developing and delivering training with engaging delivery style.

  • Demonstrated experience in a matrix environment delivering business unit level solutions while developing strong working relationships with corporate subject matter experts.

  • Strong ability to establish and maintain positive relationships at all levels and strong communication skills.

  • Willing and able to handle multiple tasks and functions in a fast-paced environment.

  • Self confident with a strong team orientation and adaptable working style.

  • Adept working with Microsoft Suite, especially Power Point.
