We are currently looking for a Senior Mechanical Designer (Engineering Technologists) for a leading producer of nickel, copper, cobalt and precious metals in Thompson, MB. This position will primarily be responsible for interacting with plant personnel to gather required date to produce effective and safe detailed engineering designs for the assigned projects.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Permanent, Full Time
POSITIONS AVAILABLE: 1
SALARY: $75,000 to $83,500. Up to 30% bonus and Northern Allowance bonus. A comprehensive benefits package is available.
ANTICIPATED START DATE: As soon as possible
LOCATION: Thompson, Manitoba
EDUCATION: Post secondary degree/diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related field of study. Professional certifications/affiliations will be preferred.
EXPERIENCE: 5 years design, drafting, project management and coordination experience required. Must be flexible and adapt to a fast paced dynamic working environment. Previous experience working with CADD software is required.
The ideal candidate will have proficiency in MS Office and Project software, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Must be able to understand & follow all safety policies, procedures & standards applicable to the Manitoba Division. Demonstrate safe behavior conforming to our SafeProduction Methodology. Ensure designs produced have been assessed with regards to risk to personnel, equipment and environment. Complete detailed drawings using Bentley Microstation Software and conforming to company procedures and practices. Perform design calculations to enable preparation of detailed designs/drawings. Make suggestions for improvements to design and drafting practice. Conduct field investigations and reproduce findings on drawings. Monitor and control project costs. Effectively schedule, prioritize and manage tasks using MS office Project tools to meet commitments made with customer plants. Develop construction scope of work and cost estimates. Ensure the direct outputs conform to company engineering standards.
